Gary Johnson's Economic Vision for America

Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson presented his "Economic Vision for America" on February 9th at an event put together by Reason Magazine. Watch the video here.

Here is a print version of the program from the Our America Initiative.

Havard's libertarian economist, Jeff Miron, is working with Johnson on his economic vision. His website, Libertarianism A to Z is here.

Here is Johnson for America that looks like it is aimed at a draft Johnson in 2012.

Here is a website seeking to draft Gary Johnson for President in 2012.

Here are bumper stickers, buttons, hats, and T-shirts.

He’s the leader that our country needs right now. I’ve already expressed my support and I hope that others will do the same.

  2. I somehow think that he is not a strong candidate. He is not strong in the international affairs area, and he seems to have confused ideas on immigration. By that I mean that he cannot seem to distinguish between proper immigration and illegal immigration, which is the reason that people want those fences on the borders.

If he had managed to spell out a coherent plan for dealing with the illegals, for example, Canada has a way of allowing these people to come in during harvest and then sending them back home, then he might stand a better chance.

He was also not coherent on the issues of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq. I suspect that he has not truly grasped the reason that the USA and allies went into Afghanistan in the first place. The mission is not yet accomplished but USA should not pull out in the same way that we pulled out of Vietnam, when there truly was a loss of face. His comments showed incredible weakness.

To be a potential candidate Johnson needs to do a lot more public speaking to become confident. He did not ooze confidence and in the present climate the lack of self-confidence is not going to capture the imagination.

  3. Maggie:

One of the things I like best about Johnson is his foreign policy views. Apparently he disagrees with the reason you favored intervention in Afghanistan. I don't think that avoiding a "loss of face" is an acceptable argument for keeping U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

I think his views on immigration are balanced. But perhaps I am not as worried about large numbers of immigrants as you are.

  4. We should always be happy with knowing the views of experts, it is impossible for us to become one of them, if we are not ready to understand their mindset. I always love reading Gary’s Economic view, as that has bright effect on my performance. I also love to do practicing regularly, it is filled with help of OctaFX broker and their rocking demo contest called Southampton Supreme, it is world class with been the shortest demo contest yet have huge prize that goes up to 1000 USD.
